Publicly funded and controlled research may shape how solar radiation modification (SRM) is understood as a contested and potentially geopolitically loaded subject. Can research conducted in the European Research Area (ERA) under controlled conditions help prevent problematic activities elsewhere? This seminar explores recent work that considers geopolitics as an important context for SRM research, pointing to risks and uncertainties that merit deeper examination.
