SRM Research on a Rapidly Changing Planet: Earth System Tipping Points

15 June | 16:00-17:15 CET / 10:00-11:15 EST

Rising concerns over tipping points – such as the observed slowdown or potential halt of the North Atlantic Circulation (AMOC), threatening Europe’s moderate climate – have led to recommendations to study SRM and declarations of national security threats. But what do those developments mean for public research priorities and guardrails when it comes to studying the uncertainties and risks of SRM?

This Co-CREATE seminar explores recent discussions on this topic and asks whether and what kind of research could help answer questions on the risk-profile of using SRM in such an extreme situation.
